To-Dos in Obsidian

Task management has switched primarily into plaintext form thanks to primarily using the Tasks Plugin instead of using Apple Reminders/Google Tasks/Microsoft To-Do, CALDAV etc. Primarly because as of 2025, the majority of my life inside of plaintext files is the ability to use task managements in conjunction my entire "life system" in Obsidian. Additionally, together with Obsidian Web Clipper it is possible to quickly capture to-dos, as well as using Quick-Add and Advanced URI plugins.

**However there is one massive negative with this system: that it does not have any kind of CALDAV (At least two-way) integration, meaning that tasks have to be managed within Obsidian as of 2025-01-10.

The iCS plugin can then be used to output the tasks (link above) into an ICS file which can be exported to Gist and read accordingly.

Types of Tasks

Tag type Use-case
#do General
#do/apply for my Job Searching in Obsidian
#do/schedule
#do/contact
#do/review
#do/add for example, referencing to things that I have to add
#do-loc/obsidian

To set up

By default, the tasks plugin only creates the initial global filter #do and not any of the earlier ^task-actions and natural language date inputs work. Just use tomorrow, today, yesterday, two days ago etc for the inputs here.

To explain how it works, I use the quick-add plugin to push tasks to my [^1] bullet journal using the built in modal feature.

- [{{VALUE: , <}}] #do/{{VALUE:apply,schedule,contact,review,add,}} {{VALUE:task name}} {{VALUE:,🔽,⏫,🔼}}, ⏳ {{VDATE:scheduled date,YYYY-MM-DD}} 📅 {{VDATE:due date,YYYY-MM-DD}}
```{ #tasks-modal}
#### Tags are now implemented
2025-01-14 , I got a few more inspiration from the G2D system. The problem is that dates are now remade to have a should I need it. Tasks are not only assigned to individual notes, or a seperate .md folder like the ✔︎ To-do-list.
### Seeing everything on google calendar
However. **As of 2025-01-10, there are no ways use proper CALDAV integration, neither tasks/apple reminders OR two-way editing of calendars.**
The iCS plugin can then be used to output the tasks (link above) into an ICS file which can be exported to Gist and read accordingly.
[^1]: As it acts more as an overall view of my tasks, instead of one list. [This has several benefits. ]( https://jeffhuang.com/productivity_text_file/)
